"Sun-Lit City" The sun creeps in on where they lay astride Facing the heavens in their deep sleep With mouth agape thirsting for droplets of hope "It is a new day" the sun says "Get up lads and hurry before the day passes you by with its swift feet And you have nothing to grease your pockets. Grudgingly they set out, weakly at first Then with more perspiration in their eyes Feet and face pass eachother With little or no greeting Mind set on the day and its troubles And each path brings them closer to their dreams Or a figure of what it could be. At midday, the sun seems not to care anymore Pouring down in might on their bent backs Sweats drop down their faces like beads of tears But they wipe it off So their eyes can see through all life lay before them. They work from sun up to its fall But retires home with dissatisfaction in their eyes. Tonight, the sun seems to give dim light through the eyes of the moon.
