"Walking Tender Paths"

Image
" Walking Tender Paths " Falling in love with a poet is weird-some He begins by writing you poems in the night About the fire in your eyes, the honey on your lips And the passion with which he would kiss each one of them. Sensual right? But a poet isn't a blind lover. He sees-talk everything in between All are part of falling in love,  nothing is left out because of public cry. He mourn your silence with a line And writes a sonnet secretly to you, Whenever you break a pound in his heart, He uses every word to woo you back And serenade you with the rhythm of each pause And flow back into your conscious with every rhyme of his lines. These "dirty" children of his emotions Locked in the closets of his imagination Are unseen by public eyes But resound in the memory of the beloved And embraced in bed during nightfall As a figment of all that could be but are not. When a poet falls in love with you He is timid with his words When he stands before your gaze But audacio...

"Holy Politics"

Image
"Holy Politics" "Rejoice with them that rejoice" Says the preacher to the silent pew Littered with famished lay men. He places his holy hands vibrating under the fervency of his words On his rich white caftan and his face beamed with a saintly smile. The place was less ventilated, Puffs of air seeping in and out of the house Like a vagrant child Despite his whole body drenched with the blessings of the congregation He cared less but basked in the Lord's glory, He kept looking around searching for a political clue, Then his eyes lights on the shabby look of the house of the Lord, Dead light bulbs that give light to their dim eyes And moth-eaten stools to support to their flattened buttocks. He takes the microphone from the preacher With a creepy smirk on his face He voices out his incredible promises on the plight of the people, And how he will turn their roads to streets of gold. Cheers starts roaring here and there Like their deceptive campaign ground He open...

"Blessing Disguised"

Image
" Blessing Disguised" The tiny voice of a weary bird, Fly past your head flapping tired wings, Its face lighted with hope Not despairing of the miles yet to cover in the sky. You look up to see this rare sight, Perhaps, it might raise your beaten down shoulders, Because faith is a fuel, All it needs is a spark of fire. The bird while flying hits a tree on its way, And loses some precious feathers, But it picks its shattered self up, And rides higher above the spot it fell. You marvel at this wonder in the sky, Toes twitching trying to pin down these unfamiliar truth, Life is throwing your way lavishly, And like a timid child your hands shiver in excitement. You bend and pick these lessons dropping at your feet, Stare at them, nod your head, muster a smile Rise with determination to rise above the earth, Much more than your weary teacher.

"Submerged"

Image
" Submerged " How do I begin to describe this sweet moment, The dance, the laughter and the tight hugs, The words said in between kisses, Or the peace in the silence of holding your hands while we strolled. How you gave your ears to all that I had to say, Like they hold some secrets you haven't heard me say before, At the end you smile like an overfed child, And ask me if I have some more. How I smile and fall into your hands, Knowing that there is safety in there, How you let your soft palms, Caress heaven into the hell burning in my skin. You watch me walk back and front, Missing each step falling for your eyes on me, You chuckled at my nonsense saying it made so much sense, That I would walk better if I follow your eyes. Your eyes burn with the fire of the sun when you look at me, I melt in the fire of your heat, I melt into happiness and soft melodious sounds, Laying there wrapped in your warmth of passion. The morning should never come to us with prying eyes, Let the...

"Crossroads"

Image
" Crossroads " Heart pacing here and there Like a pregnant deer in labour But fear throws its bands on her  So truth is born a stillborn How do I begin to bare this hopes Woven around my mind like tensed spider webs For is no freedom in being free It only strengthen the chains that desires to bind us. Freedom call is desirous Letting caged words fly abroad Towards the ears that they were meant for Jarred by the potency of fear. So, I will let this anger speak in silence Let time's strokes cure this madness With hope that you won't be blind To all these actions on the feet of fear.

"Armed Men"

Image
Armed men" In the middle of a cold night, Hands clutched on our lovers And our lovers on us Birds in a distant singing gleeful songs, Stars smiling down on us Everything flowing in its own tranquility. Then, we heard gun shots and our heartbeat became still We ran towards the window Peeping cautiously so they don't see our eyes. We saw them, men in black with bloodshot eyes and a hard look And then we saw their haggard van Smelling of weed and cruelty The Police!!! We boiled in our fear As they dragged the corpse of the man along Like a mutilated sacrifice We overheard the wife saying something about money not given,  And furniture scattered in the house She had a baby in hand and a teen beside  All made mourners in the middle of this night. We watched silently as our ambassadors of peace leaves Having brought war down to our doorsteps.

20/ 10/ 2020"

Image
"20/ 10/ 2020" As the long hand of the clock Sluggishly climbs to seven Flags swaying to the melody of the national song And protesters bowing to the compatriotic spirit Suddenly armoured vans troops into the crowd Like starved wolves, to loose mayhem on the people No warning was sounded,  No one was persuaded to leave But they clung onto their triggers  Like blind bats, to rip the flag and its bearers apart. Blood flowed like a river, Tears stream from patriotic faces, Beholding fellow brothers maimed by the lords of peace Certain no camera saw their evil acts And no light were there to expose their darkness These wild men of war, Return to their masters at the Villa With trophies of gun soaked with the blood of the young. ******* With phoney innocence on their faces, They mounted the podium to address the world, They said guns don't kill people They only shot to disperse the gathering cloud. Everyone nodded and the world goes on.
